- Little Brother: Why haven't you requested me as a family member on your Facebook yet?
- Me: Because your profile picture is stupid.
- Little Brother: Who even does that?!
- Me: Your face will ruin the aesthetic of my profile.
- Little Brother: I hate you :(

You plunged your hand into the red plastic bucket and made a mustache from foam.
Laughing, I splashed in the last bit of soap, getting some on your new Vans.
You didn’t mind.
The sprinklers on the lawn hissed away, creating a rainbow against the cement, and we were thankful for the mist because the heat smothered our bones.
Because when you’re sad on the phone, I never know what to say.

i know life’s
a mess,
but try not to lose
your head—
it’s beautiful
and i can’t lie,
i like it.

This morning I hit a red light next to a cardio barre studio. Looking to my right, I saw a window full of ladies fist pumping the air. I figured since I’m stuck here I might as well exercise too, so I started fist pumping along with them. Their reactions were great when they realized the only car stopped infront of their building was being driven by a fist pumping goofball.
to the man who has taught my mom to play poker, has taken my dad out to lunch, has become my little brother’s confidant, and has been my solid ground for the past three years. I love you.

(I made my mom a sleep and not hear the hospital playlist. It seems to be working.)
I’m sick of answering your phone calls captain obvious. Why are you asking me a question, when I already gave you the answer? Twice. No, please don’t come over tonight. I don’t care if you’re worried. My mom’s exhausted. Let her rest. Don’t come. You’re not helping. And doctor, didn’t I leave my number with you so you could call me once the surgery was finished? Please don’t try to sweet talk me over the lobby desk phone 2 hours late, you should’ve been sweet talking me over my cell… if you were doing your job right.
You and I sat in the car just to finish singing- at the top of our lungs- the song we had started.
“Chicago” by Sufjan Stevens and “Clocks” by Coldplay played over each other.
Go out this week. Just you. Eat somewhere fancy, take a book to the park, nap at the beach, explore a museum. Be adventurous.
Today I went for a walk around my neighborhood. Browsed the new record shop and stopped at Four Cafe for iced coconut green tea and the best chocolate chip cookie I’ve ever had. (Buttery and chewy, which loads of dark chocolate, and bursts of flur de sel.) I visited my favorite stores, and bought Order of the Phoenix, because the library was closed. (On a Tuesday. Unacceptable.) I try to treat myself out every now and then. It’s something that helps keep me sane and stops me from attacking people…
So do something nice for yourself. Soon. You deserve it.

(I don’t like Nicki Minaj, but I can’t get enough of this acoustic cover.)
I slept in past noon, now I’m eating a bowl with vegan blintzes drizzled in mango butter and hiding under a mountain of strawberries and banana. After that it’s off to the library to borrow the next HP book. Hopefully I don’t have charges on my account…
